I watched the news on TV one day in 1994. It was a normal evening. I sat on the couch and ate chips. There were pictures from a conflict in Rwanda on the screen. Several seconds that touched me deeply. I felt a great need to do something for those desperate people. But then I tried to push away those thoughts by being rational, “I can’t do anything for them,” “it’s so far away,” “it’s not really my problem.” But I couldn’t do it. Something began to grow in my heart and from that point I knew that sometime in the future I would be called to help poor people.

The Apollo Music Awards

We are very happy that we had the chance to take part in the awarding ceremony of the Apollo Music Awards.

The ceremony took place in the representative New Scene of the National Theatre.

The hosts were Jakub Kohák and Tereza Voříšková.

The meaning of the awards - an alternative to contemporary awards that do not reflect today's trends. In the course of the evening, all who were nominated took part in the show (for example, Midi lidi, David Koller and Tata Boys).

The group Bonus with the album called Náměstí Míru won.

The organisers invited ShineBean to give a presentation. We had the chance to put out a stand with some products and information stands in the foyer of the theatre, where our bestsellers - soapstone hearts - were the most successful.

We have our fingers crossed for the organisers, so that the Apollo awards become just as prestigious in the Czech music business as the Mercury Prize is in Britain.
